Architecture Exploration

Parent Previous Next

These sections concentrate on the construction of common system analysis using the VisualSim Hardware Architecture Library. The architecture blocks  combine the Architecture library components with the Processing and Resource blocks.

Architecture exploration is a detailed and accurate exploration of the system platform. The system platform can be an SoC, a software-based system, or a network of systems containing both hardware and software. Here the focus is on sizing the individual components, distribution of tasks on to the distributed system connected by networks, and partitioning the functionality onto hardware and software.

The metrics of this architecture exploration are time- and power-based. Using the Architecture library you can construct cycle-accurate models of standard and custom hardware platforms. "Architectures for power and performance optimization" can be explored and software can be optimized to take maximum advantage of a fixed hardware platform.
