The Power Processor block in VisualSim provides a simulation environment for analyzing and optimizing IBM Power architecture-based systems. It includes full support for 32-bit and 64-bit Power ISA, covering both legacy PowerPC processors (e.g., MPC750, MPC8548) and modern Power9/Power10-class CPUs. VisualSim also supports legacy Motorola PowerPC processors, ensuring comprehensive backward compatibility.
By simulating pipelines, cache hierarchies, execution cycles, and power efficiency, VisualSim allows designers to validate software workloads, OS scheduling, and system configurations before hardware deployment. Importantly, Power10 designers have successfully used VisualSim to optimize performance and power trade-offs at the architectural stage.
