Overview

The Discrete-Event simulation model in VisualSim consists of traffic generators, Master/Slave nodes and statistics generation.  The VisualSim model has been constructed as a hierarchical design to enable easy of understanding and modification.  Each node contains wired and wireless link- one for the network and one for the product-side.  The arbiter is built-in each node and as such, they can function as both Master and Slave.  The transmitter and receiver have been built into the same flow.  Each node has a priority queue that controls the messaging.  The priority of the connection-oriented flow is captured in this block.  The other frames all have the same priority and are not affected by the preemption. This model supports statistical delay of Master/Slave Connection with a arbitration mechanism.  Data Transfer is modeled to being timing accurate.  TX Time 366 us, Hop Time (625 us – TX Time)

Parameters Used

A major use of the library is to understand the detailed nuances of the protocols and the associated performance issues. This allows developers and researchers to determine the source of the performance issues and become better equipped to solve problems related to the design, deployment, and operation of Bluetooth networks.

Some of the key parameters and blocks used in this library are as follows:

  • Data_Rate: This parameter is used to specify the rate at which data is being sent
  • Collision
  • Packet Time
  • Bit Time
  • Connect Time
  • BT_Traffic_Gen: This block is used to generate traffic

Features

The library provides a single block with a transmitter and receiver that can be instantiate multiple times in a model. This can be used by developers and researchers interested in the design, operation, and performance of Bluetooth networks to gain guidance and potential answers on the merits of the performance offerings. Performance modelling and analysis using VisualSim Bluetooth library focuses on the Polling, Scheduling, and Traffic Control. The library enables designers to research the advantages of new extensions to the protocol and evaluate the application impact of the different Bluetooth networks, including both piconets and scatternets.

  • Easy connection and arrangement of nets
  • State Machine for the interaction between Advertise, Send, receive and low power modes.
  • Dual mode and topology

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a standard used in links of radio of short scope, destined to replace wired connections between electronic devices like cellular telephones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), computers, and many other devices. Bluetooth technology can be used at home, in the office, and in the car. This technology allows the users instantaneous connections of voice and information between several devices in real time. The way of transmission used, assures protection against interferences and safety in the sending of information. The Bluetooth is a small microchip that operates in a band of available frequency throughout the world. Communications can realize point to point and point multipoint.
